IMAGINE FOR A MINUTE…
ALL. THE. FEELS.
When your phone “ka-ching’s” with an eBay sale while you’re currently about to hop on your favorite roller coaster, The Screaming Demon, with your lil’ Timmy.
When you wake up to a list of orders placed overnight, meaning that while you were in a deep sleep, dreaming of you and Channing Tatum vacationing together in Tahiti, you were also making money!
When you “just can’t” today because you had a few too many margaritas with the girls last night and need to sleep “just a couple more hours”… and then realize you CAN today because you don’t have to go and punch a time clock somewhere.
When you skip to the bank with a $200 profit on a Monopoly game you found at Goodwill for $12.
When you put down the deposit for your family’s Disney vacation with money you made on eBay and your spouse (who may have doubted you) has to eat crow and give the obligatory… “You were right. I’m sorry I ever doubted you.” apology.
If those are the feels that make you tingle from head to toe, then I know you are one of my peeps!
I, like you, value the important things in life… things like having fun!
Ya know, spending time with my kiddos; chilling with my man hunk hubby; snuggling my dog, Daisy, or hanging with my bestie. It’s the reason I chose this life, selling on eBay.
But what about you? I bet this sounds a lot like you…
- You’re exhausted, and quite frankly, bored with the more “traditional” ways to make money from home like in-home party sales, babysitting or stuffing envelopes.
- You DO NOT, however, have the will or even the ability to work outside of the home so you’re stuck choosing one of the for- mentioned work from home “careers”, even though you’re not all that excited about it.
- But you do the un-exciting work from home biz because you know that THIS is the vehicle in which you get to spend your time away from the workplace and with someone else who needs you at home, be it yourself or a family member.
- More than any of those reasons, though, you want to feel like you are financially contributing to your family. For me, (and I bet it’s the same for you too) there’s nothing worse than that gut gnawing guilt of feeling inadequate or feeling like you’re a financial “drain” or burden on a spouse or loved one.
Or maybe that doesn’t sound like you at all, but THIS does, instead…
You work at a job that leaves you completely unfulfilled and bored. And. You. Want. More.
You don’t take vacations because you either can’t afford it, or you can’t take time off work. However, you are dying to take that cruise and to feel the sand between your toes while kicking back with a fruity drink and being able to do so without worrying about work or money.
You don’t want to miss a second of Junior’s life and you’re dying to take the leap into domestic parenthood full time.
Yes? I know I felt ALL of those things. And I’ll never forget my big “aha moment” that took me from the same longing period in my life to being an actual, real life, successful eBay Power Seller.

Being a mom who wanted to stay home with my kids while also helping my man hunk hubby pay the bills, I found myself working in real estate even though I wasn’t passionate about it. I settled, though, because it allowed me the flexibility to show houses and complete paperwork around feedings and nap time, so it worked. Kinda, because it didn’t exactly light me up.
Then, one sunny afternoon while shopping online, I found the most adorable Mickey Mouse lamp… iconic but not overdone. I just HAD to have it, so I bought it.
Fast forward in time to a week later… I’m online again and an ad for the exact same lamp appeared on my screen. The only kicker was that THIS lamp was being sold for half the price on Disney’s actual shopping website. “What?!?!” Shocked, but also a bit intrigued, I did some research. I went to the Mickey Lamp seller’s eBay store and discovered that he was buying things online and on clearance then flipping them on eBay for a 100% return!
Armed with my research, I excitedly went to my man hunk hubby and said to him “I want to get a credit card so I can make money selling on eBay.” To which my husband dashed my hopes by saying “Are you crazy?!?!” Yep, he really said that.
But, his next suggestion was something that I want to kiss him for every time I think back to this moment.
He suggested that instead of buying brand new inventory online with a credit card, that I try selling something we already owned first.
Determined to prove myself, I agreed, and immediately, grabbed the cute Dopey nutcracker garage sale find sitting on top of my entertainment center. I had purchased it for only $3 just a month or so prior. And he was cute, but honestly… I wanted to prove myself and I had NO idea where else to start.
I took pictures of him and put him up for auction on eBay with no prior experience, which took over 2 hours because I had to read every line and every prompt (terrified I would make a big mistake). Once listed, I checked almost hourly to see what the bids were up to until the day it sold.
By the time the auction ended, my $3 Dopey nutcracker sold for $51 plus shipping!
That is when I knew that this was what I was meant to do.
15 years later, here I am… still doing it, still loving it and teaching others how to do the same thing. I was able to quit selling real estate and develop my ebay reselling biz. And even better… I was able to do it from home, any of the 24 hours a day, with my kids, on vacation… And I loved it! I still love it.
I want you to love it too.
